What is photorejuvenation?
Laser photorejuvenation uses laser technology to send a concentrated beam of light deep into the skin to stimulate the skin collagen renewal from within the skin. The whole face is treated with an emphasis on particular problem areas. This results in a more radiant and youthful skin.
Is it painful?
No it is not painful. Most patients experience a sensation of having some vibration over the skin to the sensation of having a rubber band plucked over the skin. Some feel no pain whatsoever.
What skin conditions can be treated?
When will I see the effects?
Most patients will be able to experience a difference immediately after the procedure. Some patients have some redness which will resolve after about half an hour. Most will experience some tightness over the skin as well as reduction in fine lines and puffiness over the eyes just after one session only. The best effects are seen after about 3 - 4 sessions.
Are the effects permanent?
All patients are different with different skin types and reactions. Although the effects of photorejuvenation last from 6 months to 1 year, most patients need to do touch up sessions after about 6 months to 1 year.
Also, as the skin continues to age and if it is not well protected from the sun, photodamage can continue to occur. As with most things, skin conditions are multifactorial and good skin is a combination of proper nutrition, good skin care and good skin protection.
How long will it take?
Each session of photorejuvenation will take about 10 -15 minutes. You will not need to remove your make up,if any, but please refrain from putting too much dark eye shadow / eye make up.
Do I have to take time off from work?
No time off from work is necessary. Lunch-time appointments may be arranged if so desired.
